ALEXANDRA HANS (ALCM)

Alexandra has worked in the professional music industry for over 15 years, gaining extensive knowledge and experience in all genres of music. Her career has taken her all over the world performing on luxury cruise liners and in 7 star hotels. Alexandra is a member of The D-Day Darlings who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2018, making it all the way to the finals! Since then the Darlings have been signed by Sony Records and released their debut album, ‘I’ll Remember You’ in November last year, which has sold over 60,000 albums, achieving a BRIT certifies Silver Disc award! Alexandra also made her West End debut with the Darlings, performing at the Drury Lane Theatre, London, and performed on ITV’s Lorraine and This Morning. Alexandra has also worked as a regular session singer and featured on album and DVD releases.

On returning to South Yorkshire, Alexandra established The Voice Academy (formerly known as Alexandra Hans Vocal Academy, AHVA). starting with just 2 students in 2014 growing from strength to strength, now with over 80 students attending weekly lessons. She has worked in several Northern-based performing arts colleges, including MADD (Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama), CAPA (Cathedral Academy of Performing Arts) and various other Primary and Secondary schools delivering classes on technique, and one-to-one sessions preparing students for their further education auditions.

Under The Voice Academy’s tuition, students have achieved places at top performing arts colleges including, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, Bird College and Guildford School of Acting. Many Academy students have also gone on to work in the professional music industry

 

Alexandra has acted as a singing consultant for companies such as the Royal Shakespeare Company-Washington, DC and is currently consulting for the Music Factory Entertainment Group. She has also coached leading West End and Broadway performers in both the UK and the US!

She holds a Diploma and Associates Certificate with London College of Music (LCM) and is trained in various techniques used by professional companies and colleges around the world including Estill Levels 1 and 2 awarded by Anne-Marie Speed and Accent Method trained by Dane Chalfin and Linda Hutchinson.

 

Alexandra is also a member of the BVA (British Voice Association) and NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Alexandra gained her Post Graduate Certificate in Voice Pedagogy qualification last year under leading voice specialist Dr. Jenevora Williams. 

 

Alexandra still performs professionally with a number of companies across the country including The Bombshell Belles, Revival Live and Undercover Artistes.

LEXI PILGRIM

Lexi trained at The Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts, London and the Colchester Institute, receiving a BA Honours Degree in Musical Theatre. She also holds singing qualifications with Rock School to Grade 8 level.​

Previous to Lexi's extensive training, she was given the opportunity to perform in exciting venues such as the London Palladium, Her Majesty’s Theatre, Disneyland Paris, Britain’s Got Talent, Battersea Barge and the Kings Cross Theatre. 

 

Since graduating, Lexi has worked professionally in contracts that have taken her all around the UK and Europe, performing in a variety of different styled shows including Rock, Pop, Musical Theatre and an acapella harmony show. 

 

She is still working in the professional industry travelling the UK in theatre tours, corporate events, weddings and festivals in a variety of different productions. These all involve working in an array of different styles and genres and working with live musicians.

Lexi has a great deal of experience teaching in different institutes in both London and Yorkshire. Lexi has extensive training in the specialised Estill Voice method and is extremely passionate about the voice itself and continually researches current and up to date approaches to singing, whilst brings a wealth of knowledge with her to The Voice Academy.  

BETH COBURN

Beth holds a number of qualifications including National Diploma in Performing Arts (achieving a triple distinction), Musical Theatre Grade 8 with London College of Music and also qualifications in Classical Singing and Popular Music.  She is also qualified in IDTA dance and Music Theory. In this time, she also appeared in a number of different local productions playing lead roles and perfecting her vocal skills. Beth has extensive knowledge or Estill Voice Technique and had taken workshops in Accent Method with leading voice specialist, Dane Chalfin.

 

At the age of 18, Beth started professional work playing Princess Jasmine in Aladdin. She then went on to travel the world working for top UK entertainment companies. This enabled Beth to land lead singing roles on board Thomson Cruises for 3 years in which she performed a variety of different styled shows from all genres. 

Following that, Beth moved on to work for one of the UK’s leading cruise ship entertainment providers on luxury vessels and enjoyed gaining incredible experience and seeing the world doing something she loves! 

Beth’s most recent work was as a lead vocalist for P&O Cruises working along side top UK musical directors and choreographers. Beth has also worked alongside Stephen Mulhern and Jonathan Wilkes in an original magical illusions show! Beth still works professionally in shows across the UK.

 

Beth is dedicated to coaching students to a very high standard, offering her wealth of knowledge, experiences and teaching skills to the students of The Voice Academy!

DANYL-JAMES TURVEY

Danyl started performing from a young age and his passion for the arts has never wavered! 

Danyl studied at the Southern Theatre Arts Centre where he obtained a BA Honours Degree in Musical Theatre. He is also trained in Estill Voice Technique by Jan Spooner Swabey and has received training from the founding head of the Royal Academy of Music, Mary Hammond.

 

Since Danyl’s training, he has gone on to perform as lead vocalist and dancer in a variety of UK and International venues, from contemporary musical theatre concerts to full scale musicals and even shared a fantastic cruise contract with our very own TVA Vocal Coach, Beth! 

 

Danyl is the founder of YPPA which is a youth theatre company, training youngster to successfully become the best performers they can be through full scale productions including Hairspray, Fame and Sister Act. 

Danyl still works as a professional vocalist and musical director on a freelance basis for IDo Entertainment Specialists. 

 

Danyl is passionate about working with students on exceeding their own expectations and his wealth of knowledge and experience in both teaching and performing is inspiring for TVA students.  

KERRY MASSON-WILSON

Kerry achieved her triple Distinction BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts at the Northern College of Performing Arts. She then went on to gain a BA Hons Degree in Performance Theatre at York St John's University.

 

Previous to this Kerry achieved a Diploma of Gold Medalist in singing and Distinctions in Drama and Theatre Studies through the Victoria College Examinations, London.

After her studies Kerry taught Performing Arts in both schools and private academies. She also directed Musical Theatre shows with local Youth Theatre Groups

 

Kerry trained to become a secondary school teacher and studied a PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University and for the last 8 years Kerry has been teaching Drama and sharing her love for the arts with her students.

 

Kerry's personal passion is Musical Theatre and over the years has been involved in many amateur dramatic performances. She has performed in leading roles at the Rotherham Civic Theatre over the last 9 years, playing the parts of Nancy in Oliver, Ado Annie in Oklahoma, Kate in Kiss Me Kate, Sukie in The Witches of Eastwick and Lina Lamont in Singing in the Rain to name a few.

VICTORIA HENSON - STUDENT TEACHER

Victoria started her singing training with The Voice Academy when it launched in 2014 gaining her London College of Music qualifications in Musical Theatre. In her time with TVA, Victoria has performed in many local performances, showcasing solo and group performances and has also been fortunate enough to perform at The Adelphi Theatre, London and London’s O2. 

 

Victoria studied A level Drama and Theatre studies at Wickersley Sixth Form and holds her Grade 8 Musical Theatre qualifications with LCM. As part of her studies, Victoria assisted in drama lessons as part of the enrichment programme. 

At the age of 8, Victoria took to the stage in the musical Annie and has since gone on to perform in a variety of different shows with local theatre groups including; King and I, Sound of Music, Fame, Miss Saigon and Phantom Of The Opera. Victoria has also performed on two occasions in Disney Land Paris. 

Victoria has been assisting in group lessons at TVA for 2 years and runs TVA Girl Project sessions. Victoria has started her teacher training with Alexandra and is currently working toward her LCM Teaching Diploma, taking on the role of Student Teacher. She is joining Beth and Alexandra in the summer for extensive training in 'Teaching Children and Young Voices', led by Dr Jenevora Williams.
